  1. The “prayer request” is the classic method of Christian gossip. The participants can feel smug in spreading their tales cloaked in ecclesiastical garb. For example, “No, I didn’t badmouth Bro. Jones. I didn’t assassinate his character. I didn’t gossip. I just said he desperately needs our prayers because he’s having an affair with the pastor’s wife!”
