Pope invites Doug Batchelor for peace talks

Doug Batchelor commenting on papal developments…

VATICAN — In an intriguing move by the Vatican, Pope Francis has invited veteran Adventist evangelist and staunch papal critic Doug Batchelor to Rome for peace talks.

The invitation comes after a seemingly never-ending stream of criticism of the Vatican from Doug Batchelor.  Pope Francis, who allegedly has Adventist family, said that he was inviting Batchelor for a conversation focused on common ground instead of differences “whether real, stemming from 16th century Catholic abuses or rooted in complete misunderstanding of modern Catholic positions.”

Although there has been no official response from Batchelor yet, Adventist inter-faith scholar Mattias Telmo says that he doubts Batchelor will take the pope up on his offer to talk.  “Doug Batchelor appeals to a base of highly combative television viewers that take end-time prophecy as an excuse to lambast almost every move that the pope makes.  Even we Adventists feel like he is going a little far.”

Telmo appealed to Adventists to develop a more generous view of Christians and others outside the Adventist faith community.  “Believe it or not, there is a way to be a responsible Adventist with a watchful eye for prophetic events without demonizing every move of someone who honestly seems to be doing his level best as a religious leader,” said Telmo of the current pope.  “We are often guilty of comparing the best of our ideals as a church to the worst abuses of another faith.  It’s like a Catholic equating Mother Teresa with his church and claiming David Koresh was a typical Adventist. That is just not fair.”

  1. I respect Pastor Doug, but he has gone a little overboard in rhetoric against the Pope. He has also taken a strange position (“strange fire”?) on women’s ordination. For accurate information, he should read: http://EqualOrdination.com/ There, he would learn that God ordains whoever is willing to accept His call to the ministry, regardless of gender.

      Renee Porcena, has said it well and besides, what we have to remember, is that the Pope, is Satans representative on earth and as a Jesuit, he has taken an oath that is still standing to this day, go and look up Jesuits oath. Yes he might be doing a lot of good but its all a front, its like the tree of good and evil. And with the call in Rev 6 to come out, why should he go? What does light have to do with darkness? As it says in scripture. And we have been given counsel not to meet or debate with those who are connected with spiritualism, of which they are, and is stated by both bishops and Popes that black magic is practiced behind closed doors in the Vatican. Besides what good will it do, one is not going to change the others mind, matter of fact, I think it would be the Popes advantage that another one came to him, dressed in black.
      And as far as strange fire, I think you have that backwards, the first church was the family and God put man as the spiritual leader of it, any thing else is just trying to be politically correct and if your going to be that, then what next, gay marriage and pastors? Now that’s strange fire. This same issue came up, with Israel just before they went into the promise land, yes Kora was qualified but he was not called. And besides this issue has been prayed about and voted on at the GC session twice and both times it has been no, so how many times does God have to say it? Here is some more info on this.

      ” Notice below, that the structure of the church, should be after the family and not being politically correct with the world, if not after the family, what’s next in the church?

      The Lord has constituted the husband the head of the wife to be her protector; he is the house-band of the family, binding the members together, even as Christ is the head of the church and the Saviour of the mystical body. Let every husband who claims to love God carefully study the requirements of God in his position. Christ’s authority is exercised in wisdom, in all kindness and gentleness; so let the husband exercise his power and imitate the great Head of the church. [13] – {AH 215.1}

      The Lawmaker and Priest—All members of the family center in the father. He is the lawmaker, illustrating in his own manly bearing the sterner virtues: energy, integrity, honesty, patience, courage, diligence, and practical usefulness. The father is in one sense the priest of the household, laying upon the altar of God the morning and evening sacrifice. The wife and children should be encouraged to unite in this offering and also to engage in the song of praise. Morning and evening the father, as priest of the household, should confess to God the sins committed by himself and his children through the day. Those sins which have come to his knowledge and also those which are secret, of which God’s eye alone has taken cognizance, should be confessed. This rule of action, zealously carried out by the father when he is present or by the mother when he is absent, will result in blessings to the family. [5] – {AH 212.1}
      The father represents the divine Lawgiver in his family. He is a laborer together with God, carrying out the gracious designs of God and establishing in his children upright principles, enabling them to form pure and virtuous characters, because he has preoccupied the soul with that which will enable his children to render obedience not only to their earthly parent but also to their heavenly Father. [6] – {AH 212.2}
      The father must not betray his sacred trust. He must not, on any point, yield up his parental authority. [7] – {AH 212.3}

      In ordinary life the family was both a school and a church, the parents being the instructors in secular and in religious lines. [2] – {AH 182.1}
      The Family Circle a School—In His wisdom the Lord has decreed that the family shall be the greatest of all educational agencies. It is in the home that the education of the child is to begin. Here is his first school. Here, with his parents as instructors, he is to learn the lessons that are to guide him throughout life—lessons of respect, obedience, reverence, self-control. The educational influences of the home are a decided power for good or for evil. They are in many respects silent and gradual, but if exerted on the right side, they become a far-reaching power for truth and righteousness. If the child is not instructed aright here, Satan will educate him through agencies of his choosing. How important, then, is the school in the home! [3] – {AH 182.2}
      Look upon the family circle as a training school, where you are preparing your children for the performance of their duties at home, in society, and in the church. [4] – {AH 182.3}

      The wife is to respect her husband. The husband is to love and cherish his wife; and as their marriage vow unites them as one, so their belief in Christ should make them one in Him. What can be more pleasing to God than to see those who enter into the marriage relation seek together to learn of Jesus and to become more and more imbued with His Spirit? [2] – {AH 114.2}
      You now have duties to perform that before your marriage you did not have. “Put on therefore, … kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering.” “Walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us.” Give careful study to the following instruction: “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church…. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it.” [3] – {AH 114.3}

      This statement below speaks of what is happening today.

      God’s Instruction to Eve—Eve was told of the sorrow and pain that must henceforth be her portion. And the Lord said, “Thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.” In the creation, God had made her the equal of Adam. Had they remained obedient to God—in harmony with His great law of love—they would ever have been in harmony with each other; but sin had brought discord, and now their union could be maintained and harmony preserved only by submission on the part of the one or the other. Eve had been the first in transgression; and she had fallen into temptation by separating from her companion, contrary to the divine direction. It was by her solicitation that Adam sinned, and she was now placed in subjection to her husband. Had the principles enjoined in the law of God been cherished by the fallen race, this sentence, though growing out of the results of sin, would have proved a blessing to them; but man’s abuse of the supremacy thus given him has too often rendered the lot of woman very bitter, and made her life a burden. – {AH 115.1}
      Eve had been perfectly happy by her husband’s side in her Eden home; but, like restless modern Eves, she was flattered with the hope of entering a higher sphere than that which God had assigned her. In attempting to rise above her original position, she fell far below it. A similar result will be reached by all who are unwilling to take up cheerfully their life duties in accordance with God’s plan. [4] – {AH 115.2}

      But here is some very important info on how and what conditions wives are to submit.

      Wives Submit; Husbands Love—The question is often asked, “Shall a wife have no will of her own?” The Bible plainly states that the husband is the head of the family. “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands.” If this injunction ended here, we might say that the position of the wife is not an enviable one; it is a very hard and trying position in very many cases, and it would be better were there fewer marriages. Many husbands stop at the words, “Wives, submit yourselves,” but we will read the conclusion of the same injunction, which is. “As it is fit in the Lord.” – {AH 115.3}
      God requires that the wife shall keep the fear and glory of God ever before her. Entire submission is to be made only to the Lord Jesus Christ, who has purchased her as His own child by the infinite price of His life. God has given her a conscience, which she cannot violate with impunity. Her individuality cannot be merged into that of her husband, for she is the purchase of Christ. It is a mistake to imagine that with blind devotion she is to do exactly as her husband says in all things, when she knows that in so doing, injury would be worked for her body and her spirit, which have been ransomed from the slavery of Satan. There is One who stands higher than the husband to the wife; it is her Redeemer, and her submission to her husband is to be rendered as God has directed—“as it is fit in the Lord.” – {AH 116.1}
      When husbands require the complete subjection of their wives, declaring that women have no voice or will in the family, but must render entire submission, they place their wives in a position contrary to the Scripture. In interpreting the Scripture in this way, they do violence to the design of the marriage institution. This interpretation is made simply that they may exercise arbitrary rule, which is not their prerogative. But we read on, “Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.” Why should the husband be bitter against his wife? If the husband has found her erring and full of faults, bitterness of spirit will not remedy the evil. [5] – {AH 116.2}
      Wives Subject Only As Husbands Are Subject to Christ—The Lord Jesus has not been correctly represented in His relation to the church by many husbands in their relation to their wives, for they do not keep the way of the Lord. They declare that their wives must be subject to them in everything. But it was not the design of God that the husband should have control, as head of the house, when he himself does not submit to Christ. He must be under the rule of Christ that he may represent the relation of Christ to the church. If he is a coarse, rough, boisterous, egotistical, harsh, and overbearing man, let him never utter the word that the husband is the head of the wife, and that she must submit to him in everything; for he is not the Lord, he is not the husband in the true significance of the term…. – {AH 117.1}
      Husbands should study the pattern and seek to know what is meant by the symbol presented in Ephesians, the relation Christ sustains to the church. The husband is to be as a Saviour in his family. Will he stand in his noble, God-given manhood, ever seeking to uplift his wife and children? Will he breathe about him a pure, sweet atmosphere? Will he not as assiduously cultivate the love of Jesus, making it an abiding principle in his home, as he will assert his claims to authority? – {AH 117.2}
      Let every husband and father study to understand the words of Christ, not in a one-sided manner, merely dwelling upon the subjection of the wife to her husband, but in the light of the cross of Calvary, study as to his own position in the family circle. “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it; that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.” Jesus gave Himself up to die upon the cross in order that He might cleanse and keep us from all sin and pollution by the influence of the Holy Spirit. [6] – {AH 117.3}

      And here is the info on Abraham.

      In early times the father was the ruler and priest of his own family, and he exercised authority over his children, even after they had families of their own. His descendants were taught to look up to him as their head, in both religious and secular matters. This patriarchal system of government Abraham endeavored to perpetuate, as it tended to preserve the knowledge of God. It was necessary to bind the members of the household together, in order to build up a barrier against the idolatry that had become so widespread and so deep-seated. Abraham sought by every means in his power to guard the inmates of his encampment against mingling with the heathen and witnessing their idolatrous practices, for he knew that familiarity with evil would insensibly corrupt the principles. The greatest care was exercised to shut out every form of false religion and to impress the mind with the majesty and glory of the living God as the true object of worship. – {PP 141.2}
      It was a wise arrangement, which God Himself had made, to cut off His people, so far as possible, from connection with the heathen, making them a people dwelling alone, and not reckoned among the nations. He had separated Abraham from his idolatrous kindred, that the patriarch might train and educate his family apart from the seductive influences which would have surrounded them in Mesopotamia, and that the true faith might be preserved in its purity by his descendants from generation to generation. – {PP 141.3}

      And here is the statement in which shows who is the spiritual leader, because is was Sarah’s idea for Abraham to sleep with Hagar. But who did the Angel condemn and who was tested for their lack of faith? Not Sarah but Abraham.

      If God had sanctioned polygamy, He would not have thus directed Abraham to send away Hagar and her son. He would teach all a lesson in this, that the rights and happiness of the marriage relation are to be ever respected and guarded, even at a great sacrifice. Sarah was the first and only true wife of Abraham. She was entitled to rights, as a wife and mother, which no other could have in the family. She reverenced her husband, calling him lord, but she was jealous lest his affections should be divided with Hagar. God did not rebuke Sarah for the course she pursued. Abraham was reproved by the angels for distrusting God’s power, which had led him to take Hagar as his wife and to think that through her the promise would be fulfilled. – {SR 80.2}

          1. Chantz

            Personal view is why the Catholic Church is in error. If we all go with our personal views, there will be a mishaps mash of doctrines. How is to say what is right and what is wrong. That is why we should go by the bible. EGW books go hand in hand with the bible. It is a highlight, simplified so all may understand. The spirit of prophesy is how we understand where we are. There is no point in pussy footing around the issue, we should not have any communion with those who do not keep the precepts of Christ! If you stand for your beliefs, what do you think the actions of those who you seem to care about hurting their feelings will do to you when probation closes???
            We are living on the edge of the knife. Copulation is not an option for those who are bible based Christians. EGW spoke about all of this. Those who are “sighing” at all the apostasies, stay calm, for even their actions and need to be on the good side of Rome has been prophesied……”They will be offended.” They are playing their role. Know that He is “Even at the doors”.

        Thanks so much . I love the quotes from Sister White. Im glad the Lord gave us the Spirit of Prophecy… he does not want that any should perish.. Time is so short.. Thank God for the warriors of the Seventh Day Adventist Faith who stand for Truth and the 3 Angels Messages ..

      2. Submitting to our Heavenly Father ONLY

        Richard, a million thanks for expressing the true character of God as the Creator of the family and the ONLY guide in choosing a husband. I am a third generation believer. Our Heavenly Father has blessed me with such a man.

        To women who are hoping to have a family some day?Pray, pray, pray and ask God to give you the man that He knows will be the best husband for you. He will not disappoint you. We have just celebrated 44 years together. What God has blessed, let no man put asunder. I honor my husband. There is no question that God gave him to me. Like any marriage, we have had some downs. Having said that, we honor God, or vows, and the covenant we made with God when we said, “I do” for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, richer or poorer till death do us part.

        My sweetie respects me and honors me. He NEVER lords it over me. We both have responsibilities with equal respect and appreciation. We still “thank” each other for even the most minute task, as some might call it, that we do for each other. Taking each other for granted is NOT in the equation. I know when God says to me “that is not what is best for you or for both of you” and, we listen!!!

        Obey our Heavenly Father, not the what the world approves of. If you obey the world, it will only lead to the destruction of your home.

      The so-called critics of Pastor Dug have never been addressed to the person of the pope, but to the Vatican itself. And to me blaming Pastor Dug for his teaching is a sign of conformity with the Jesuit practice. No wonder, as the Bible says, many will abandon the faith and join themselves to the antichrist movement.

    3. Vai Ioane

      I have read most of our Adventist people’s comments in regarding to our dear brother Pastor Doug decision, and his evangelical work. This is the time for us to support, not criticizing of what he is doing. Pastor Doug is doing an awesome work with no fear to preach the truth. But what I can see here, some of us already afraid of what is coming. I am not afraid because I have been longing to see my Lord to come in HIS GLORY to take us back home…..

        1. Meshack

          Amen. Doug is doing a daring work of the mission. We need to support him without any prejudice or misconception. Let us not conform to them but let them conform to us. By Doug going to Vatican is like paying homage to someone who calls himself repeatedly the representative of Christ on earth.

      1. Chantz

        Exactly! I have heard far worse commentary on the pope and RCC from people/pastors from other denominations. The bible has shown who the beast is. Pastor Doug should be scrutinising all their moves as we all should. Rome never does anything without a reason. Every move is meticulous and with purpose……and remember, ROME NEVER CHANGES! We all need to wake up to this movement for togetherness. It is a prelude to the unification of the entire world under the dominance of Rome. When Rome last had this power, there were persecutions and a lack of progress with anything that conflicted with their rule. You can bet that the same will happen. So those who are quick to defend Rome’s hurt feelings, beware!

    4. Vai Ioane

      I don’t agree with your statement, if you look back to Israelite times in their Tabernacle, there was no female had been anointed to be a High priest. I think Pastor Doug has provided lots of Biblical evidence and quoting directly from the Bible. About this issue we have to look and search what’s the Bible really saying whether we considering the women should be ordained or not. So therefore I believe women should not be ordained.

    5. Joseph Oboe-Sam

      Larry, go read Matthew 23.
      Would you say Jesus went overboard?
      Women cannot be ordained in the Adventist Church.
      We are not wiser than our Holy Spirit-filled pioneers.
      Read: “The primary object of our college was to afford young men an opportunity to study for the ministry and to prepare young persons of both sexes to become workers in the various branches of the cause.” (5 Testimonies p.60)
      The work of the ministry is for men. That is God’s way.

    6. Gary Wendell Stanfield

      All Christianity is of Satan. No one today has salvation. There are over 38,000 denominations in Christianity and the Pope has to get rid of all the Protestant denominations and make Christianity like Constantine created it to do, which is to absorb all pagan religions and make Christianity the One World Religion for all mankind during the 3 1/2 year Tribulation Period at the end of the 7 Year Peace Plan. Only those who believe in Yahweh Messiah at that time with His Spirit infilling will not be a part of this deceit.

    7. Marianna

      Softness does not lead to Heaven. Devil is cleverly mixing our church and beliefes. Are you really sure in your opinion in women ordination? Think again by reading your bible please.

    8. Pastor Randy Brehms

      Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Ronald Reagan once said “Trust but Verify” The major issue with the Papacy is very similar to that of Seventh-day Adventism. Organized religion tends to believe in the organization’s right to determine for the congregant what the bible says, and then control that congregant with terrors of hell. Catholicism burns the wicked for eternity unless you can buy your way out, where Adventism only buns you as long as you deserve. . Catholicism maintains that Jesus gave to His church the ability to even abrogate the Laws of God. Many teachings even are completely in contradiction of the principles articulated in the bible. The Majesterium would for me the hardest pill to swallow in Catholicism

    9. Tanaka

      We have a lot of conspiracies and unfortunately we don’t even notice it. We come to generally identify the Pope or RCC as the beast yet that is not entirely true. Reason and maybe logic denies us that conclusion.
      Revelation 13:1-5 we have a beast that has 10 horns and 7 heads. ONE of its heads is wounded and healed. ONE!!! out of 7 heads. That one head, not the horns, not the mouth or feet or the whole beast is RCC/Papacy. Its totally irrelevant to bash on the RCC in DOUG’s context. We can go on and on with the analysis of the beast and it will throw most of our interpretations into question. Imagine the energy and zeal we exert on a flawed interpretation.

      Our kind of view has destroyed our view of the gospel and 3 Angel’s message. We have even made the National Sunday Law the gospel. I have never heard a message that’s so globally irrelevant as this one. It’s a NATIONAL law, hei. It’s not an international law. It’s yours, there wherever its going to be implemented if ever it will. Matthew 10 hints us that not all nations will embrace an antiChrist stance. NSL is not relevant for Islam, Buddhas, Other African religions and many other people who don’t observe Sunday…

      “Come out of her my people” is a global message not just some Sunday worshipers. If we are serious about our 3 angel’s messages, Doug needs to be globally relevant and leave bashing at small sectors.

  2. Renee Porcena

    i don’t think Doug Bathelor is overboard with prophecy in following the pope. He is not degrading the pope, he is following the events and the actions and trying to keep up with what we, as Adventist know will take place. He has not lied on the pope, he elaborates with some bible verses and prophecies to help open eyes.
    I don’t know if he should accept the invitation or not but I’m sure he is praying for guidance and we should help him pray to do God’s will and not to shame Him.

    1. Chantz

      The only reason why the Vatican does not like what he is saying is because they don’t want people to be educated in the history they fought so hard to hide. They want to move into position without any problems, so that when it is finally upon us it will be too late.

    2. Stephen Chi

      I believe Pastor Doug should not accept the Pope’s invitation. What light has to do with darkness? Rome never Changes. It only corrupts. Look at it’s history.A church that sends those who believe in JEsus to the Stakes accused as heretics and burned alive. History will repeat itself. Wait until the Papacy gains it’s full religious and Secular Power and she’ll as prophesied.

  3. limoz

    Pst Doug batchelor is always right in reporting current events concerning the papacy n those criticizing him r examples of those leaders who r willing to sell thir followers to papacy
    Thx alot pastor batchelor through ur teachings on current prophecies many hv been saved God bless u alot

    1. Andrew

      I support your stand for Pastor Doug Limoz, who is the pope that we should reverence him! We have some hirelings masquerading as SDAs, which are not. It is the pope that shud visit Doug, not Doug the pope. If I want to see someone then I go and visit them. Stay your ground Pastor Doug, I recommend that you do not go down to Babylon or Egypt, God has called you like a Luther to declare His Word so that souls can be won for His kingdom. Sola Scriptura! Sola Scriptura! Sola Scriptura! The just shall live by faith!

      1. lllurl jannings

        Luther would indeed, be astounded at these statements. The Lutheran Church is at this very time preparing to sign pacts with the Roman Catholic Church that will reunite them as one Catholic and Holy Church. The pacts have also been signed with the Anglican/Episcopal Church.
        God has given Pope Francis great wisdom.

  4. Ray Kraft

    This is, of course, satire. And Adventists often forget that without the Catholic church, there would be no Adventist church.

    Whaaaaat?

    The Bible was compiled, edited, and published, by the Roman church, that became the Catholic church, the Nicene Council, circa 1400-1500. Without the Catholic church we would have no Bible.

    The Catholic church proceeded to develop most of the Christian theology we have today. Whaaaaat? Yes, if you read the Catechism, you may be astonished to find that except for a handful of teachings, the importance of the Saturday Sabbath, the state of the dead, the intercession of the saints, there is very little difference between Adventist and Catholic theology.

      1. G.

        Get your facts right, OK? Even if it was so 500 years ago, it’s not so today. Catholics encourage their lay people to read their Bibles. Just as we do.
        About the Bible reading by unlearned people — yes, they can read it, but I’d also caution against taking their ideas seriously. Spirit seldom helps Or ssubstitutes lack of theological and historical knowledge. Sorry, too often I’ve seen what stupid things people do And require others to do when they take their Bible reading literally, and have no education in biblical matters.

        1. Anna

          I was browsing through the books of a Catholic friend when I found this statement: “If there is a conflict between the Bible and the tradition of the church, then tradition must be followed.” A very strange kind of deity that speaks to all through His Word, and then tosses that Word aside for the tradition of men. The Bible “makes wise the simple,” but only if we believe it is the Word of God. “If they speak not according to this Word, it is because there is no light in them.” Isaiah 8:20. We should go to the Word of God itself for instruction, not the second hand opinions of men.

          1. Elaine

            Seventh Day Adventism appears to be conforming to the world — everywhere. There will be a very small “remnant” that comes out of this vein of religion. I have absolutely no confidence in the SDA Conference or its leadership. I don’t know why I had to walk this path with the SDA’s, but, once again, I see (as I did back in 1991) internal fighting and back-biting among the “troops.” Doug Batchelor is an excellent example of what an honorable SDA should be doing in these last days — as are Danny Vierra and Kenneth Cox. Instead of criticizing the work that God has assigned for them on this earth, we should support them — even if the Conference does not! The Conference appears to “disfellowship” those who differ from their “opinions.” God is only allowing all this to happen because this is His Plan as to how it’s all going to “pan out.” This is God’s script. In a nutshell, I know what it feels like to be persecuted from within the Church — and it’s quite okay with me. At first it hurts — but then you realize whom it is that you are actually serving — not man, but God Almighty!! You follow His lead — not man’s! And, I’ll go as far as to say that if the SDA Conference does not support them, then these Men of God (Batchelor, Vierra, Cox) are definitely on the right track!! Ellen White tells it just the way God told her to — pretty soon, the SDA Conference will be burning her books! Come on, people, quit “LOL’ing” so much at everything that is said — sit up straight so the blood gets to your brain — get in your prayer closets!!! In Testimonies to the Church, Ellen White predicts exactly what is happening inside the church — it’s getting worse by the day! Watch the video below to understand what the SDA Conference does to Men of God who stand up for what God has asked them to do. God does not only speak to the SDA Conference and/or their leaders — He speaks to us also!!! Are you listening? Are you brave enough to do His Will? Your prayers should be, “God, I want to know Your Will, not man’s.” Never play your will against God’s Will — you’ll lose every time!!!!

    1. Arumba

      Ray Ray Ray, please flip the pages of your BIBLE not the catechism. And don’t read it like a novel but seek God’s understanding.Revelation and Daniel are books written concerning the future, not sda’s from Catholicism or bible from catechism. By the way have you ever thought precisely what apostle Paul meant when he wrote 1 Timothy 3 vs 4-5? please don’t remind me of Ephesians 5 vs 32. kneel down, ask God wisdom and seek to understand the bible. study; Matthew 23 vs 9, exodus 20 vs 4-6,John 17 vs 11. And who are popes children? who is his wife? Paul said “if there cannot contain marry” it wasn’t a law rather a spiritual advice.

    2. Stephen Chi

      Ray you r not on the side of truth. Catholic theology is the opposite of SDA theology which is Bible based, all of them. I came out of the Sunday Church many moons ago. Sunday is the first day of the week. We are commanded to keep or observe The Sabbath Day to keep it Holy. Only God can make something Holy. No priests or Popes can ever do that. Not in this life or the life to come. The Pope is a mere man who claims the position of Jesus Christ on earth. The pope blasphemes the name of God/Jesus by such claims. Saint Paul calls the Pope the Man of Sin in his writing through inspirations.

    1. Valerie Henderson

      You all may find this funny but I’m pretty sure my Jesus does not. If it is not of truth we are not to speak it nor write it. I pray for you as you are letting Satan use you.

    2. Elaine

      If you believe what you’ve quoted and are reiterating it to remind us of what “BarelyAdventist” represents, then it appears the joke’s on you. Those of us that have traveled the path of “Adventism” do not find it “… parody, satire, irony, caricature, or comedy. …” For us, it is so real that we have disconnected and have reconnected to the True Vine — and we are barely clinging to the “earthly country club” referred to as the Seventh Day Adventist Church. There are many funny things to laugh at — this issue is not one of them. Don’t get things twisted in your brain.

    An official news magazine of the SDA Church (the Record) has responded to rumors claiming Pope Francis has an Adventist brother:

    Dr John Graz, director of Public Affairs and Religious Liberty for the General Conference of the Adventist Church, said such claims have no basis in reality.

    “There was a similar rumour circulating when John Paul II became Pope,” said Dr Graz.

    James Standish, director of Communications and Public Affairs in the South Pacific Division, said “these kinds of sensational rumours get people excited, but ultimately breed cynicism. We need to keep our eyes firmly fixed on Christ, and not on conspiracies.”

      1. lllurl jannings

        The brother of Pope Francis is a fully formed Jesuit Priest with full orders and practices his Priesthood. He would not be in a position to have anything to do with the SDA movement.

    Here is another false report circulated by unwary and gullible folks two years ago (some falsely attributed the story to Reuters, and others to the AP):

    Pope Praises Adventists at St. Peter’s Tomb at Vatican, Offers Ellen G. White Beatification By JOSE D’EMILIO with Juancito Perla y Perla | Associated Press – April 1, 2013

    VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Francis is spending today’s Vatican holiday praying at the tomb of Saint Peter, the church’s first pontiff, during a visit to the excavated necropolis under St. Peter’s Basilica. During today’s events, His Holiness brought out a little red book by his favorite author, the Adventist prophetess, Ellen G. White, who died in 1915. Pope Francis announced that he will beatify the 19th century Adventist writer and establish a joint committee for the promotion of full ecumenical fellowship with the SDA denomination. Rev. Ted Wilson, world leader of the nearly 16 million-member sect, is said to consider “Unity” within the broader Christian community his number one priority. Both Wilson and Francis are opposed to ordaining women to the pastoral priesthood, it was noted.

  8. Richard Mills

    I say, Doug, go for it! Make this one of your AFCO mission trips. Think of all the PR in this venture. Offer a few discounts. Visit places of Biblical nature. I’ll go with you. I need a blessing from Pope Francis!

  9. Todd Parrish

    We live in serious times. This site and everything about it has proven it doesn’t even deserve a reading or a “conversation.” From here forward, watch for the source, and don’t waste your time.

  10. Kephas Ogutu

    to the pope and his supporters..Ellen white is not just an author, She is a prophet of God, called to prepare a people to meet their savior as He comes the second time.
    “Men may get up scheme after scheme, and the enemy will seek to seduce souls from the truth, but all who believe that the Lord has spoken through Sister White, and has given her a message, will be safe from the many delusions that will come in these last days.”{3SM 83.5}
    to Adventists who compromise with the pope…you are making a shipwreck of your own souls.
    “As the storm approaches, a large class who have professed faith in the third angel’s message, but have not been sanctified through obedience to the truth, abandon their position and join the ranks of the opposition. By uniting with the world and partaking of its spirit, they have come to view matters in nearly the same light; and when the test is brought, they are prepared to choose the easy, popular side. Men of talent and pleasing address, who once rejoiced in the truth, employ their powers to deceive and mislead souls. They become the most bitter enemies of their former brethren. When Sabbathkeepers are brought before the courts to answer for their faith, these apostates are the most efficient agents of Satan to misrepresent and accuse them, and by false reports and insinuations to stir up the rulers against them. {GC 608.2}

    Every Christian denomination that are registered as 501.3(c) are ” State owned entities” and therefore have forfeited their constitutional rights and are subjected to what ever religious /non-religious laws the Gov’t passes (LBGT,Women Ordination, and even National Sunday Laws). Please go and research …

      Jesuits would have little to do with the SDA movement.
      Very few would have ever heard of the SDA people. There is no reason for them to be aware of these people. They are far too busy working with others to even notice such a small group.
      The Jesuits are the most wonderful Order of the Roman Catholic Church. They do more for the poor, the infirm the marginalised than any other group. They devout their whole lives to honor the vows given to them by God and serve Him their whole lives and have little rewards, monetarily, but great reward spiritually. AMDG

    I don’t think Doug should go ! Pope is a Jesuit, he is not a sweet old man , he is a deceiver ! He is up to something !! He will want to unite all churches under him ! The SDA church is above all the other churches !! We stand on our own !!

  13. Alfonso Ozaeta Sr

    Jesus died for all mankind. All humanity includes the pope! True believers and followers of Christ are called to witness to the ends of the earth, to everyone! Everyone includes the pope! Let us be true to our calling! Amen!

    1. Joseph Oboe-Sam

      Alfonso, the meeting is not evangelistic.
      The Pope is not requesting an explanation of the Adventist message.
      He is calling for a ceasefire – peace talks, compromise!
      Nothing useful could come out of it.
      If any benefit comes out of it, it would be to the Pope and his Catholic church.

    1. Ped

      I Agree with you brother. Let’s just pray for Pastor Dug and to all of us. God bless you

      Luke 6:22
      “Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.
      “Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets

  14. Ruth

    Jesus was confronted in a situation where if he decided yes or no he would be in trouble, judged, but he lean down and wrote something in the sand… If I Know what he wrote I could tell to do the something, but because I don’t I can tell to pray to find solution because wherever you have if is not the God’s one you would be in trouble and judged…. you need to go low in to your knees to the highest… God Bless you and your path.

  15. Ped

    I still believe that Pastor Dug is doing the right thing, every word from his lectures are coming from the Bible. I believe that God will help him how to respond in a situation like that. Let’s just support him. What is happening right now is really showing that Jesus is coming soon!! God Bless all of us and let us just pray for one another to keep our faith burning.

    Luke 6:22-23
    “Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.
    “Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets.

    1. Elaine

      We have a great sense of humor! However, this issue is not a laughing matter. What is being discussed is of a very serious nature — not one of comedy. To me, the term “BarelyAdventist” cuts both ways — (1) referring to those who are “barely” Adventists because of how far away they have fallen in their beliefs from the original founders’ message … and (2) referring to those who are “barely” Adventists today because they see what’s happening in the country club (church) — for which you are beginning to notice their exodus from the country club and their intentional re-connection to the True Vine (Jesus Christ — the Son of God). The things happening today that are causing this “shake up” in the church must happen for the “falling away” to occur. My experience/testimony is that when I asked God what His Will was for my life, He presented a vision of the pedestal in my life. What was revealed to me was shocking!!! It was an immediate reaction!! Without any thought, I consciously placed Jesus onto the pedestal of my life. What’s on your pedestal?

  16. Priscilla

    I am so blessed every time I listen to Pastor Doug. I am not a Catholic nor Adventist and I know if the truth is being preached. How? Because I read the Holy Bible, my only reference to seek the Truth. I do not believe in man-made rule nor traditions of man. (Mathew 15:1-9). I do believe that the Holy Spirit Who dwells in us will guide us so we are not deceived by many who is using every strategy to attract more people to join them in darkness. Jesus did not give us any religion to follow. Jesus in us will give us the understanding of the Word of God so our eyes opened, accept Him as our Savior and be saved. Praise the Name that is above all names, Jesus Christ! Amen.

    1. Elaine

      Please continue to listen to the Holy Spirit — Who will lead you into all of God’s Truths! Churches are “country clubs.” They have man-made rules and if you want to “belong”, you must follow those rules — or run the risk of being voted out of the country club. God will never leave you or forsake you!

  17. Zelda

    If only u read and understood the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation, you would understand that its not actualy Doug, its the Bible..and are u gonna stand up and say the Bible is at fault?? The word of God will never be shut up and truth shall always be revealed.. Let pastor Doug carry on with the work of Christ, cause the truth will remain the truth, and it depends on no man…

  18. Peter

    The pope would LOVE it if Doug were to accept his invitation or should I say….TRAP/SNARE. It would give the Vatican more ammunition to use as propaganda. If Doug did decide to go, he should wear white.

  19. Moni Dominic

    I will not dare to criticize a man who works so hard for the Lord. It is a great sin in the eyes of the Lord. When majority of our pastors are Jesuits in disguise, this man works with all his sincerity. He stands by the word of God. May the Lord bless this man for the great work he is doing to save our church. God punished Israel for criticizing Moses, one chosen by God to lead them. So be careful.

  20. Uh, so you who posted this website are trying to tell me that you are part of the Seventh-day Adventist movement, that you are an Adventist? The title of you site, “Barely Adventist” is becoming of you, lol, because the definition of Adventist is “one who is looking for the advent (2nd in our case) of Christ.” From what I have read, I would have to concur that you are “barely Adventist,” or more simply put, “barely looking for the coming of Christ.” Don’t you know that history is prophecy fulfilled? Ever since July, 1982, via the Reagan Administration, we have seen Revelation 13:12 being fulfilled before our very eyes; then, in this past week, we have seen even more prophetic fulfillment when we witnessed Pope Francis address, for the first time ever, the joint congress of the USA. So, wouldn’t you classify this autocratic leader, addressing a lessening democratic government, an act of culminating “church and state?” It’s all good though, for I know, me. a “full Adventist,” that the coming of “my” Jesus is near because He said, in His Word, and through His end-time prophet, that these things would take place. Yes, Pope Francis may be, or seem to be, a nice guy, someone we would want as our buddy. Heck, I imagine that Satan seemed nice enough at the tree. This pope is the head of an organization which boastfully claims to have the authority to change God’s Law; not only the Sabbath, but the total removal of the second commandment and the dividing of the tenth into two comandments. I was raised Catholic, and for the entire ten years of catechism, in which I confirmed, which is the final sacrament, not once did we ever open the Bible! The “nine comandments” were always on the church wall, and probably remain so to this day. Since I mentioned the Sabbath and the tree, let me close with this food for thought: “What’s the difference in a day?” well, my real question here is, “what’s the difference in a tree?” I’ll tell you what the difference is…….”AND GOD SAID…..”

  21. GABRIEL

    our battle is not against flesh and blood.Any new one who has seen the truth in the sda church can fly out of the church after readx these -ve comments on such a sinciere pastor who i have not heard say anything without backup from the bible or EGW’s writings i rather thank God For Him and i know what he is passx through is prove enough that he is on the right path.

  22. Really

    All I have to say right now is that the General Conference is an embarrassment to the Adventist people now that they have made evident their weakness and their ability to be gullible!!

Your prayer should be, “God, what is Your Will in this matter? I want to know Your Will, not man’s.” Never play your will against God’s Will — you’ll lose every time!!!!

  24. Language

    Don’t you hate it when one person speaks for the entire group. Doug is right and I hope he doesn’t accept the invite. We will never have common ground with the pope nor do we want it.

  25. Danni (DK)

    Just stating what is going on in the Vatican is not bad. Journalists do the same…they state what is going on at the ‘scene’. Doug did the same and I support his way of reporting about what’s going on there.

    We know that the Papal _system_ is Satans messenger as it’s described in the Bible…and so of course reporting what the Pope is doing it totally OK and we should not be afraid of doing so. We have no reason to be intimidated as we have the Truth on our side….Sola Scriptura…Sola Scriptura…

  26. kilty

    It is time for the SDA community to stop persecuting members of the Roman Catholic Church. This is especially true for those who are true Jesuits. Jesuits are the true remnants of the church and as such will you to your full formation. You can not crush the beliefs of a true Jesuit and therefore it is better to join them hand in hand to find God in all things. AMGD

    1. Johan

      You are very uninformed about the Jesuits and why the order was established. Please do some research. I can hear that you are sincere, but being sincere is not enough. The evil in the Jesuits is unthinkable, yet they give the impression that they are godly.

      The Jesuit order was brought into existence one reason, to destroy Protestantism, which they mostly have accomplished. They do this without any morals and even kill to accomplish it, just read the Jesuit oath. The Jesuit order is like the military wing of the RCC.|

      The Bible has also foretold that this would happen, but the RCC blind their followers to know this truth. If you think that the Jesuits follow the true Christ, you have been misled seriously.
